Growing Info, follow in order:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours, repeat process daily for 4 days.
Stratification: cold stratify for 90 days.
Germination: sow 1-2" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed.
Major is a cultivar of Carya illinoinensis, hardy pecan and is a large shade tree that bears high quality pecans. This variety has been discovered in 1907 along the Ohio river at the Major Farm estate. This variety bears smaller nuts (60-80/lb). The yields are high on this variety, it is the most commonly used northern cultivar.
Will start bearing nuts between 6-10 years of age.
