Paulownia tomentosa, also known as Empress Tree, Princess Tree or Foxglove Tree, is a fast-growing deciduous tree that thrives in zones 7-10. It can grow up to 30-50 ft tall with leaves 6-15 inches across arranged in opposite pairs on the stem. The fragrant flowers are produced before the leaves in early spring resembling foxgloves. The tree prefers deep moist soil but tolerates many types and can survive in urban environments. The wood is used for making boxes, clogs, furniture, musical instruments, and construction beams. It is also known for its ornamental value, being cultivated in parks and gardens. Despite being invasive in North America, it is an ecological pioneer plant, providing fodder and preventing soil erosion. Grow your Paulownia tomentosa today and enjoy its unique beauty and versatility.
