Looking for a beautiful and graceful specimen to add to your garden? Look no further than Abies amabilis, also known as the Pacific silver fir, lovely fir, or Cascade fir. This large evergreen coniferous tree grows up to 150 ft tall and features drooping branches and needle-like, matte dark green leaves with white bands of stomata. The pitch or resin is said to be one of the best curatives for a sore throat. Native to the Pacific Northwest of North America, it grows at altitudes of sea level to 5,000 feet in temperate rain forests with relatively high precipitation and cool, humid summers. Its wood is used for paper making and crates, and its foliage is often used for Christmas decoration. It's an ornamental tree planted in large parks, but it requires cool, humid summers to thrive, which limits the areas where it grows well. Order yours today!
