Add a bold pop of color to your garden with the Telekia speciosa (Giant Ox Eye). This sunflower-like perennial boasts upright, branching stems that are topped by bright yellow or orange-yellow daisy-like flowers from July to September. The leaves are hairy and serrated along the edges, growing up to 10 inches in length. This plant thrives in woodland clearings, scrub, and along streams and prefers rich, moist soil with part shade. Native to central Europe, Caucasus, and Turkey, the Telekia is perfect for mountainous areas and provides sprays of single, daisy-like flower heads with yellow rays and large, flattened, orange-yellow center disks. Growing up to 4-6 feet tall, this plant is synonymous with Buphthalmum speciosum and adds a unique and stunning touch to any garden.
