Introducing the stunning Stewartia pseudocamellia var. koreana, also known as the Korean Stewartia. This deciduous tree features 2-2 1/2" white flowers with orange centers in July, and its lovely exfoliating bark showcases patches of orangy brown, gray, and brown. In fall, its leaves turn shades of yellow, red, and dark reddish purple. Native to Japan and Korea, it grows to a height of up to 15 meters, with a conical or oval habit. Renowned horticulturist Michael Dirr notes that it's probably the best garden Stewartia. The trees generally require some light shade in the afternoon as they resent hot afternoon sun, especially if dry, and grow best in rich organic soils with good drainage and consistent moisture throughout the year. Use this ornamental tree as a specimen planting in shrub borders or as a specimen lawn planting with year-round interest. Available for cultivation since 1874, it can even survive winters as cold as -30 °C. Don't miss your chance to add this striking tree to your landscape.
