Min Xian, Xigu), E Qinghai (Haiyan Xian, Xining Shi), E Xizang (Sog Xian), as well as parts of Kazakhstan and Russia (Siberia) and SE Europe (Bosnia and Croatia), you can find the beautiful and versatile Sibiraea laevigata, commonly known as Siberian Spirea or Xianbei Hua. This mid-sized shrub is cold hardy and prolific in its flowering, making it a great choice for areas where drought tolerance and cold hardiness limit choices for flowering shrubs. Growing up to 1.5 m tall with glabrous branchlets and buds, it boasts linear-lanceolate, broadly lanceolate, or oblong-oblanceolate leaves that are clustered on older branchlets and solitary at axils on current year's growth. The panicles are 5-8 cm wide and feature white obovate petals with a broad, cuneate claw at the base. The carpels are glabrous and the foliage is glabrous on both sides, making it a low-maintenance option for any garden. Open forests, slopes, meadows, and stream sides are the preferred habitat for this species. Contact Rick at kirsanov.s.s@yandex.ru to inquire about purchasing seeds for this special shrub.
