Introducing the Prunus avium 'Alkavo', a certified virus indexed Mazzard cherry tree. The Alkavo is a carefully selected clone from the common Prunus avium that produces trees that are about 10% smaller, making it easier to harvest for fruit production. This variety is also more frost-hardy than the common Prunus avium. The fruit is a small drupe that is ripe in mid-summer, and is eaten by birds and mammals, which in turn disperse the seeds. The tree is highly tolerant of urban pollution and is suitable for inner city environments. The Alkavo is a must-have for any garden!
