Thinleaf Pine (Pinus maximinoi) is a beautiful coniferous tree found in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico. This tree can reach heights of 15-30 meters and has smooth bark during its early stages of growth. It grows at elevations between 1500-2400 meters and has long, pliable needles that are so thin they can be braided! Thinleaf Pine has a straight, round trunk and horizontal branches that often whorl. At maturity, the tree develops an open pyramidal crown, which becomes thick and rounded. Its bark changes from smooth grey-brown to rough, deeply fissured large plates. This tree adds a unique and captivating dimension to any garden or landscape.
