Introducing the Paeonia mlokosewitschii, also known as the Golden Peony, Caucasian Peony, or Molly the Witch Peony. Native to the Caucasus Mountains in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Dagestan, this beautiful plant thrives on rocky slopes in forests of oak, hornbeam, or beech. The herbaceous perennial grows tall, up to 27 inches, displaying biternate, glaucous leaves with obovate lobes. In springtime, it produces stunning, lemon-yellow flowers that can reach up to 5 inches in diameter. The ovary is pubescent with two to four carpels in white, pink, or yellow, while stamen filaments are yellow-green. Discover this unique species that was named after the Polish botanist Ludwik Mlokosiewicz, who discovered it in 1897. Non-Polish speakers can simply call it the Golden or Caucasian Peony, and enjoy its beauty for years to come.
