Magnolia fraseri, also known as Fraser Magnolia or Mountain Magnolia, is a beautiful ornamental tree. Its large, showy white flowers and coarse-textured, large-leaved foliage make it a stunning addition to any garden. This deciduous tree can grow up to 14m tall and is native to the southeastern United States, including the southern Appalachian Mountains and Gulf Coastal Plain. It is a hardy tree that can also be grown in areas beyond its natural range if given the right conditions. The fruit is enjoyed by wildlife, which helps disperse the seeds. This tree is also named after the Scottish botanist John Fraser, who explored extensively in the Appalachian Mountains. Considered a native alternative to exotic magnolias, this tree offers little commercial value but is a great addition to any garden due to its beautiful flowers and attractive foliage. Magnolia fraseri grows best in rich, moist, and well-drained soil. There are two varieties of this species: Magnolia fraseri var. fraseri and Magnolia fraseri var. pyramidata (Pyramid Magnolia). Grow this attractive tree in your garden today!
