Discover the beauty of the Rocky Mountain Juniper, also known as Juniperus scopulorum, a species of juniper native to western North America. This narrow tree, with its dark, bluish, or light green foliage, grows at high altitudes of up to 2,700 m on dry soils, often with other juniper species. It is a popular hedge and screening plant with many cultivars available. Medicinally, a tea can be made from the fruits and young shoots. Its slender, strictly erect growth habit also makes it a popular ornamental plant in gardens, with the "Skyrocket" cultivar being particularly popular. In Native American cultures, the smoke of the burning cedar is used to drive away evil spirits prior to conducting a healing ceremony. Discover the beauty of this unique tree and explore its many uses.
