The Oriental Beech, also known as Fagus orientalis, is a striking deciduous tree that belongs to the beech family Fagaceae. Its natural habitat includes mountain forests in eastern Europe, stretching from northwest Turkey east to the Caucasus and Alborz Mountains. The tree can reach impressive heights of up to 150 ft tall with a 5 ft trunk diameter. The bark is smooth and pale gray, and the leaves are obovate, widest near the tips, with 6" veins and dark green foliage that turns golden yellow in the fall. The Oriental Beech is a valuable source of timber and is closely related to the European Beech. Adorn your landscape with a large, stately Oriental Beech and enjoy its impressive size, attractive bark, and stunning foliage.
