Introducing the Eucalyptus deglupta, also known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus, Mindanao Gum, or Rainbow Gum. This tall tree is native to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. It is the only Eucalyptus species with a natural range that extends into the northern hemisphere. The most distinctive feature of this tree is its multi-colored bark, which showcases bright hues of blue, purple, orange, and maroon. In its native habitat, it can grow up to 250 feet tall, while outside of its natural habitat, it typically reaches 100-125 feet. Eucalyptus deglupta thrives in rich, medium to wet soil in full sun and is intolerant of frost. This tree is now cultivated worldwide for making pulpwood used in paper production. It is also grown as an ornamental tree in tropical and subtropical gardens and parks, where its showy multi-colored streaks on the trunk add a distinctive beauty. In Hawaii, it is commonly planted as a street tree and shade tree. Discover the unique beauty of the Rainbow Eucalyptus and its diverse and vibrant bark hues.
