Looking for a tall and hardy tree that can thrive in dry conditions? Consider Eucalyptus cloeziana, also known as Gympie Messmate or Cloeziana Gum. This tree features rough bark on most or all of its trunk and larger branches, with soft and flaky patches in a yellow-brown color. The leaves are lanceolate or curved, slightly glossy and discolorous, and can grow up to 13 x 3 cm. White flowers bloom in early to late summer. Eucalyptus cloeziana has a scattered distribution in Queensland, but can reach heights up to 60 meters in the Gympie region, where it thrives best. While its bark can resemble that of yellow bloodwoods, it is not related. This tree is drought-tolerant and was named in honor of Francois Stanislas Cloez, a French chemist who discovered eucalyptol. If you're looking for a beautiful and low-maintenance addition to your landscape, consider Eucalyptus cloeziana today.
