Discover the Betula utilis Himalayan Birch, a stunning tree native to the Himalayas. Its flaking, dark brown bark and 3" leaves make it a visually striking addition to any garden. Betula utilis tends to form forests, growing as a shrub or tree reaching up to 20 m tall and frequently grows with scattered conifers and an undergrowth of shrubs. Its wood is very hard and heavy, and quite brittle, while its heartwood is pink or light reddish brown. The white, paper-like bark of the tree has a long history of use in writing Sanskrit scriptures and texts and is still used for the writing of sacred mantras. Betula utilis, Himalayan Birch, is a beautiful addition to any landscape.
