Acer campestre, commonly known as the Common Maple, Field Maple, or Hedge Maple, is a deciduous tree that can grow up to 75 ft tall at a fast rate. This native maple is found in most of Europe, including Denmark, Belarus, and Poland, as well as southwest Asia and North Africa. Outside of its native range, it is widely planted in Europe, the US, and Western Australia. The field maple is loved for its finely fissured bark, yellow-green spring flowers and samaras, and its white, hard, and strong wood that is useful for flooring, furniture, and musical instruments. The shrubby habit and smallish leaves of field maple respond well to bonsai techniques that encourage ramification and leaf reduction. The tree has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Order seeds to grow your own field maple today for a visually stunning addition to your garden or park.
