Introducing the Canino Olive, an ancient olive variety that originated in the area around Rome and has been used for centuries to produce some of the finest extra virgin olive oils in the world. This evergreen tree grows to 25-45 ft at a slow rate and boasts silvery green leaves, fragrant flowers, and small drupe fruit that is thinner-fleshed and smaller in wild plants than in orchard cultivars. Canino olives are extremely drought resistant and grow well in poor soils, making them an excellent ornamental addition to any garden. They also hold their fruit with very little drop during the growing season, making them a favorite among commercial growers in California. The trees are resistant to pests and less sensitive to wind and cold than many other varieties. While they produce an average quantity of oil, it is of superior quality. Try growing this ancient variety in your garden and taste the rich history that's been enjoyed for centuries.
