Malus pumila 'Borowinka', also known as Borowinka Apple, Dutchess Apple, or Dutchess of Oldenburg Apple, is a versatile and hardy cultivar perfect for both culinary and dessert uses. Originally hailing from the Tula region of Russia in the late 1700s, this apple was named in honor of Catherine Pavlovna, the Grand Duchess of Oldenburg. It quickly gained popularity across Europe due to its vigorous growth and delightful flavor profile. The tree, reaching up to 20 ft at maturity, boasts a moderately resistant nature to diseases, making it a gardener's favorite.

This medium-to-large apple has a distinct round to flattened shape with vibrant greenish-yellow skin that is artistically brushed with a bright red hue and broken stripes. The fruit is adorned with russetted lenticels and, as it ripens, develops a pale blue bloom.
