Quercus buckleyi, also known as Texas Red Oak or Buckley's Oak, is a beautiful and hardy tree that is native to the southern Great Plains of the United States. It is smaller than its close relative, the Shumard Oak, and is more likely to be multitrunked. This tree is highly regarded as an ornamental and shade tree, with leaves that turn vivid red and orange in the fall. Quercus buckleyi is fast-growing and can tolerate wet soils, making it a popular choice for landscaping and gardening. Its previous scientific name was Quercus texana, leading to much confusion with Nuttall's Oak, which is now known as Quercus texana. Choose Quercus buckleyi for its excellent fall colors, ease of transplanting, and fast growth rate!
