Introducing the stunning Giant Imperial Delphinium - a plant that boasts a towering, erect stem, reaching up to 3 ft tall in the larger meadowland species. Its beautiful, five-petal sepal flowers vary in color from purple and blue to red, yellow, or white, attracting butterflies and bumble bees from late spring to late summer. However, caution must be exercised as all parts of the plant are toxic to humans and can cause severe digestive discomfort if ingested, as well as skin irritation. Interestingly, the plant is also used as a food source for some butterfly species. Though larkspur, especially tall larkspur, can be a significant cause of cattle poisoning, the toxicity is reduced late in the summer, making it safe for grazing. Enhance your garden with the stunning Giant Imperial Delphinium, but remember to handle it with care.
