Experience the beauty and uniqueness of the Decaisnea Fargesii, commonly known as the Blue Sausage Fruit or Blue-bean. Belonging to the family Lardizabalaceae and found natively in eastern Asia, the Decaisnea plant is an intriguing addition to any garden. Decaisnea are deciduous shrubs or small trees growing to a height of 15-25 ft, ideal for establishing a vertical interest. Their leaves are pinnate, 60-90 cm long, sprouting 13-25 leaflets. The flowers, produced in drooping panicles 25-50 cm long, are a stunning greenish-yellow and add an exotic touch to your garden. Yet, the most remarkable feature is the fruit. Aptly nicknamed 'Dead Man's Fingers', the fruits are bluish pod-like structures filled with an edible, jelly-like pulp, giving it a unique color palette on the green canvas of your garden. Moreover, the fruits are easy to grow, making for a visually striking display. So infuse your garden with the fascinating aesthetics of Decaisnea Fargesii and watch it transform into an awe-inspiring space. Note: Best grown in cooler temperate climates, in a fertile, and well-drained soil. Zones 6-10 are recommended. They are quite frost hardy.
