Sorbus decora, also known as the Showy Mountain Ash and Northern Mountain Ash, is a deciduous shrub or small tree that is native to northeastern North America and can grow up to 40 ft tall. Its pinnately compound leaves and large clusters of flowers and fruits make it very similar to the American mountain-ash but can be distinguished by its shiny and sticky buds. Showy Mountain Ash is often cultivated for its cold-hardiness, attractive flowers, and clusters of small red berry-like pomes that are an important source of food for wildlife, particularly birds in the winter and early spring.
