-i (Konkow language). Prunus subcordata, also known as Klamath Plum, Pacific Plum and Sierra Plum, is a beautiful deciduous shrub or small tree native to the western United States. Its gray bark and pinkish-white clusters of flowers in spring are a stunning sight. The fruit of the plant is a small, plum-like drupe that matures in late summer and is edible but tart. Prunus subcordata thrives in forest environments and grows at low elevations near the coast, as well as in the Sierra Nevada and Cascades, at altitudes of 100-1,900m. This versatile plant can also form dense, spiny thickets and is a favorite of the Concow tribe, who call it gos’-i. If you are a fan of stone fruits like cherries and plums, don't miss the chance to add this native beauty to your garden. Order your Prunus subcordata today!
