Scots Pine, also known as Pinus sylvestris, is an evergreen coniferous tree that is native to Europe and Asia. It is an important tree in forestry, with its wood being used for pulp and sawn timber products. This species is extremely adaptable to various soils and is the only pine native to northern Europe. It can grow up to 25m tall, with a distinctive long, bare trunk and rounded or flat-topped foliage on top. The blue-green needles grow up to 5cm long and can persist for up to 9 years in subarctic regions. Scots Pine is also used as a Christmas tree due to its irregular pyramid shape. It is a hardy tree that can survive in different altitudes, from 1,000m to high-altitude mountain ranges. With its unique characteristics and versatility, Scots Pine is a great addition to any landscape.
