Quercus pagoda, also known as cherrybark oak, is a highly valued red oak native to the southern United States. It grows on moist sites and is larger and better formed than southern red oak. Its wood is strong and straight, making it an excellent timber tree. Many wildlife species use its acorns as food, and cherrybark oak makes a beautiful shade tree. Cherrybark oak is usually found as individual trees in mixed stands, where it dominates a stand. It is classed as intolerant of shade and requires full light for development. The leaves of cherrybark oak are shaped like a pagoda and its bark is similar to the bark of black cherry. The species is rare in the lower Mississippi Delta.
