Digitalis Ferruginea (Rusty Foxglove) is a stunning biennial or short-lived perennial plant native to southern Europe and Turkey. The yellowish flowers are marked with rusty red, particularly on the inside, in spikes, and bloom in summer. This easily grown plant thrives in full or part sun and dry, well-drained soil, and prefers semi-shade but can tolerate drought. The leaves are cardiac, stimulant and tonic, often used in the treatment of certain heart complaints. It grows to a height of 4ft. It is an ornamental plant suitable for woodland gardens and shady edges. Propagate through the seed sown in early spring or autumn. A must-have for discerning gardeners!
