The plant grows quickly, showcasing golden and red flower inflorescences that resemble buttons, hence well-known names like "buzz buttons", "Sansho buttons", and "electric buttons". Despite its sensitivity to frost, Acmella oleracea thrives as a perennial in warmer climates.
They are edible too! Oddly enough, the taste experience is comparable to "popping candy" or "little needles poking the top of your mouth", as per the description of a brave individual who dared to consume 1/4 of a flower and recorded the experience on a YouTube video.
