Cutleaf Coneflower, also known as Goldenglow, Green-headed Coneflower, Tall Coneflower or Thimbleweed, is a large perennial herb native to Eastern North America and commonly found in flood plains and moist soils. With an impressive height of up to 3 meters, it has slightly glaucous leaves and composite flowers. The disc flowers are green to yellowish green and the rays are pale yellow. This plant is widely cultivated in gardens and for cut flowers, with the 'Herbstsonne' cultivar being particularly popular. While it spreads rampantly by underground stems, it is appropriate for large sites only. The young stems of the plant are edible and are traditionally cooked and eaten in the spring for good health. The plant produces a green dye from its flowers.
