Discover the beautiful Rhododendron glanduliferum - a unique rhododendron species that originates from the northeastern part of Yunnan, China. Naturally found at impressive altitudes of approximately 7,500–7,900 ft, this evergreen shrub typically matures to a height of 13 ft, boasting robust, leathery leaves that range from oblong-lanceolate to oblanceolate shapes. Their size can reach up to 10–19 × 3.8–4.5 cm. What sets this species apart are the exquisite white flowers they produce, renowned not only for their exceptional size but also their intoxicating heavy scent, adding a stunning visual and olfactory charm to any garden. Introduced to the western world in 1995, the R. glanduliferum exhibits impressive resilience, flowering from July to September. Despite its limited wild distribution and increasing habitat threats, this rhododendron species flourishes into an alluring, six-foot shrub over a decade, proving to be well worth the wait, and a valuable addition to your garden.
