This North American species of oak is widespread in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras and can also be found in west Texas canyons. It is a relatively fast-growing and practically evergreen tree up to 20 meters tall with gray or brown bark and elliptical or egg-shaped leaves. The Quercus polymorpha is more resistant to oak wilt and other diseases and pests than other oaks, making it an excellent choice for ornamental purposes.
