Are you looking for a fast-growing tree that is perfect for any soil? Look no further than the Populus tremuloides Quaking Aspen! This tree typically reaches heights of 20-25 meters at maturity, with a trunk 20-80 centimeters in diameter. It is the most widely distributed North American tree, found from Canada to central Mexico. The Quaking Aspen's greenish white to creamy tan bark and yellow fall color make for a beautiful addition to any landscape. It is also an important source of pulpwood. Clonal colonies are common with this species, with one colony named Pando and considered the heaviest and oldest living organism at six million kilograms and possibly 80,000 years old. Don't confuse it with European aspen, Populus tremula, which is also sometimes called quaking aspen. Add the Quaking Aspen to your yard, and enjoy the magical sight of a breeze ruffling every leaf as it passes.
