220 year old trees that are 46 metres tall in the forests of Järvselja). Scots Pine, or Pinus sylvestris, is the only pine native to northern Europe and an important tree in forestry. The wood is used for pulp and sawn timber products. Highly adaptable to various soils, this pine tree is found across the entirety of Europe and Asia, from Ireland to eastern Siberia. The tree can grow up to 25m in height, with light brown shoots, blue-green leaves, and orangish brown bark. The seed cones are initially red, then expand to full size in their second year, becoming green before turning yellow-brown at maturity. Scots Pine is the perfect choice for landscaping projects due to its irregular pyramid shape in its youth, and it can be used as a Christmas tree. With its wide-spreading branches, round or flat top, and adaptable growth, it is a great addition to any garden.
