Discover the beauty of the Liriodendron chinense, also known as the Chinese Tulip Tree. This majestic tree is native to central and southern China, as well as northern Vietnam, and can reach up to 40 meters in height. Protected populations of this species can be found in national reserves, including the Tianmushan National Reserve and Badagongshan Nature Reserve. Though it resembles the American species, Liriodendron tulipifera, the Chinese Tulip Tree can be distinguished by its slightly larger and more deeply-lobed leaves, and shorter inner petals that lack the orange pigment of the former. While it may not be as hardy as the American species, it is still commonly cultivated in England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and even North America. See for yourself why the Liriodendron chinense is truly a gem of Asia's native flora.
