Introducing the Caesalpinia pulcherrima, also known as the Barbados Flower Fence, Dwarf Poinciana, Peacock Flower, and Pride of Barbados. This striking ornamental shrub grows up to 3 meters tall, native to the tropics and subtropics of the Americas. Its bipinnate leaves bear 3-10 pairs of pinnae, each with 6-10 pairs of leaflets, and it blooms in racemes up to 20 cm long with five yellow, orange or red petals. The fruit is a pod 6-12 cm long. This plant is widely grown in tropical gardens, and is even featured on the Queen's personal Barbadian flag. It's also found in many parts of India and is commonly planted as an ornamental shrub in domestic and public gardens. With its beautiful inflorescence in yellow, red, and orange, it's perfect for adding summer color with a tropical effect. It is tolerant, good with drainage, and needs full sun or light shade. It's a reliable and easy-to-grow addition to your garden!
