Looking for a stunning addition to your garden? Look no further than Banksia ericifolia, also known as Heath Banksia or Lantern Banksia, a woody shrub native to Australia. This medium to large shrub can reach up to 20 ft tall, but is often smaller in exposed areas like coastal or mountain heathlands. The inflorescences are flower spikes that can grow up to 22 cm high and 5 cm wide, and come in orange or red colors that contrast beautifully with its green, fine-leaved foliage. While Banksia ericifolia is sensitive to too-frequent burning, it responds to fire by seeding, making it a hardy and resilient addition to your garden. With the production of more cones and seeds with age, the plant can store up to 16,500 seeds at eight years old.
