Asclepias tuberosa, also known as Butterfly Milkweed or Butterfly Weed, is a beautiful perennial plant native to eastern North America. Growing up to 2 feet tall, it showcases clustered orange or yellow flowers from early summer to early autumn that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other insects. It prefers dry, sand or gravel soil and requires full sun. This plant is also commonly used in herbalism for its healing properties, particularly for relieving pain and inflammation of pleurisy. However, it should not be used by pregnant women and infants due to its small amount of cardiac glycosides. Propagated easily by seed, it might be difficult to transplant once established. Don't miss the chance to bring a splash of color and life to your garden with this stunning plant!
