Acer sieboldianum, also known as Siebold Maple, is a stunning addition to any landscape. This medium-sized deciduous tree, native to Japan, has smooth grey-brown bark and spreads 15 to 20 feet wide. It thrives in partial shade or shade and is hardy to about -20 degrees F. In late spring, the tree produces beautiful pale yellow flowers in corymbs of 10-15. These flowers, along with its smooth bark, distinguish it from its closely related species, Acer japonicum. In autumn, the leaves turn bright orange to red, making it the perfect fall showcase in your yard. Several cultivars, including 'Kinugasa yama' and 'Mi yama nishiki', have been selected, but are rarely seen outside of Japan. Elevate your landscape with the unique beauty and charm of Acer sieboldianum.
