* This low growing shrub's compound blue-green leaves turn a beautiful purple in winter. It has yellow flowers in spring; grapelike black fruit with a blue bloom in fall and spreads via stolons. It is native from British Columbia to northern Mexico. A nice addition to the landscape.
* The fruit has an acid flavour but it is rather nice raw, especially when added to muesli or porridge. Unfortunately, there is relatively little flesh and a lot of seeds. Used for making jams. jellies etc. They can also be made into a refreshing lemonade-like beverage. When sugar is added, the fruit juice is similar to grape juice. more...
