Salvia nemorosa, also known as Meadow Sage, Perennial Sage, Sage and Woodland Sage, is an attractive and easy to grow herbaceous perennial plant. It is native to central Europe and western Asia and has many cultivars, with flowers ranging in color from violet, to violet-blue, rosy pink, and white. It is a hardy plant, with numerous leafy stems growing from the base at the beginning of summer and closely spaced whorls of small flowers throughout the season. Salvia nemorosa prefers full sun, good drainage, and moderate weekly watering. It is a spreading plant that grows up to 24 inches tall. However, in northern Britain, Salvia nemorosa and Salvia pratensis are in danger of disappearing due to depredation from slugs. Plant Salvia nemorosa in your garden for a touch of color and a low maintenance perennial plant.
