Introducing the exquisite Quercus graciliformis, also known as the Chisos Oak or Slender Oak. This tree can reach up to 8 metres tall and boasts elliptical or lance-shaped leaves with 8-10 shallow lobes. Its biennial acorns are a sight to behold. The Chisos Oak is found only in the breathtaking Chisos Mountains, within Big Bend National Park of West Texas, and a few miles southeast into the state of Coahuila in northeast Mexico. Sadly, this majestic tree is threatened by habitat loss, making it a rare find for nature lovers. Found on dry, rocky canyon floors at elevations above 5,000 feet, the Chisos Oak is a true wonder of nature. Learn more about this beautiful species at the USDA website.
