Primula denticulata, also known as Drumstick Primrose or Himalayan Primrose, is a stunning flowering plant that is native to moist alpine regions, from Afghanistan all the way to China. It is an herbaceous perennial that grows up to 45cm tall and wide, with sturdy stems bearing spherical umbels of purple flowers in late spring and early summer. The oval leaves have serrated edges and are covered in yellow farina on the underside. This popular garden subject grows well in deep moist soil in sun or partial shade and can also be grown from seed. Primula denticulata has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit and is perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any garden.
