Brought to you from Western China, the Cotoneaster adpressus var. praecox, also known as the Creeping Cotoneaster or Early Creeping Cotoneaster, is the perfect addition to your garden. This slow-growing, deciduous shrub is only 1’ tall but spreads to 6’ wide, with horizontal branches that may root where they touch the ground. Its shiny dark green leaves turn red in fall, and its small rose-colored flowers and dark red fruit add a pop of color to your landscape. This tough and adaptable plant is best grown in moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade but can withstand poor soils and drought once established. Container-grown plants may be spaced 3’ apart for mass plantings, and easiest propagation is by stem cuttings. With little pruning required, this shrub is a hassle-free addition to your garden.
