Introducing the Cornus capitata ssp. angustata, also known as the Evergreen Chinese Dogwood or Evergreen Dogwood. Native to the woodlands of the Himalayas in China, India, and surrounding countries, this evergreen tree is grown as an ornamental in many parts of the world. It grows up to 12 meters in height and width, with gray-green leaves that are fuzzy underneath and several centimeters long. White blooms appear during the summer, followed by a small aggregate of several individual fruits fused into a red body. The fruit is edible but can be bitter and is often used in preserves. This tree is winter hardy to USDA Zone 7 and thrives in organically rich, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It is a great addition to any garden, attracting birds and offering winter interest. Try the Cornus capitata ssp. angustata for a unique and beautiful twist to your landscape.
