Description
The New Mexico State Forestry Division states: Abies concolor: This native conifer, is widely used as a Christmas tree in New Mexico. It has a conical shape which becomes irregular with age. It is also a noteable commercial species for the wood products industry in New Mexico. The needles are silvery blue and cones are olive-green to purple. Has low calcium carbonate tolerance and no salinity tolerance. Pest Problems: spruce budworm, Douglas-fir tussock moth, bark beetles, aphids and dwarf mistletoe. Suggested Uses: Christmas trees and reforestation.
